Dongfeng Motor Corporation is a Category I commercial state-owned enterprise primarily engaged in automotive manufacturing, sales, services, and technology R&D. Its predecessor, the Second Automobile Works, was established in 1969. Over the past 56 years, it has produced and sold over 62 million vehicles and contributed approximately 700 billion RMB in taxes and fees. As of the end of 2024, the company's total assets reached 470.386 billion RMB, with 117,000 employees. In 2024, Dongfeng Motor took solid steps in its transformation and development, achieving wholesale volumes of 2.48 million vehicles and terminal deliveries of 2.55 million vehicles. Among these, sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) reached 860,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 64.4%, while sales of independent brands hit 1.37 million units, up 34.8% year-on-year.
The company's production bases are distributed across more than 20 cities nationwide, including Wuhan, Shiyan, Xiangyang, Guangzhou, Liuzhou, Zhengzhou, Chengdu, and Dalian. Its core businesses encompass passenger and commercial vehicles, key assemblies, automotive components, automotive equipment, and automotive finance. Its products cover luxury, high-end, and mainstream market segments, with vehicle exports reaching over 100 countries and regions.
In recent years, the company has continuously optimized its layout across the new energy vehicle industry, supply chain, and industrial ecosystem, establishing a strategic paradigm that comprehensively surpasses the internal combustion engine era. Deeply engaged in three technological routes—hybrid, pure electric, and hydrogen power—Dongfeng has launched exclusive NEV platforms and products for both passenger and commercial vehicles. The thermal efficiency of its Mach super hybrid dedicated engine has repeatedly broken industry records, reaching 47.06%. The company independently controls core technologies and resources such as the "three electrics" (battery, motor, and electronic control systems), fuel cells, electronic and electrical architectures, automotive-grade chips, and intelligent driving. Dongfeng ranks first among major automakers in the number of science and technology awards received in the automotive industry. It has also consistently topped the industry in newly authorized invention patents, accumulating a total of 25,200 valid patents. Since the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan, Dongfeng has ranked first among automotive enterprises in the number of national and industry standards it has led or participated in drafting.
