On July 19th, the 2014 DongFeng Motor 5th FIBA Asia Cup, for which DFM functions as the exclusive title sponsor, kicked off its final at the Wuhan Sports Center. The Iran Team defeated the Chinese Taipei Team in the end with an aggregate score of 89:79 and emerged champions of the 5th FIBA Asia Cup. Deputy General Manager of DFM and Chairman of Wuhan Sports Association Tong Dongcheng conferred medals and flowers upon the champion Iran Team on site.
Chairman of FIBA Asia Prince Saud, Member of the Executive Committee of FIBA Asia Muda Mazuo, Director of the Organizing Committee of the DongFeng Motor 5th FIBA Asia Cup and Director-General of the Hubei Administration of Sport Hu Dechun and Vice Director of the Organizing Committee of the DongFeng Motor 5th FIBA Asia Cup and Vice Director-General of the Hubei Administration of Sport Zhang Jin et al. jointly witnessed the moment of glory and conferred medals upon the champion, the runner-up and the third place teams.
As the top event in men's basketball in Asia, the FIBA Asia Cup represents the top level of Asian basketball. The 2014 Cup brought together 9 basketball teams from China, Iran, Japan, Chinese Taipei, India, Singapore, Indonesia, Jordan and the Philippines and lasted for 9 days from July 11th to July 19th. After going through dramatic contests in the group matches, quarterfinals, semifinals and final, the Iran Team, Chinese Taipei Team, and Philippines Team eventually won the championship, runner-up and third place respectively; the China Team ranked in 4th place (see Page B11 for details).
As the exclusive title sponsor for the 5th FIBA Asia Cup, DFM provided strong support for this event's successful running and the DFM A60 was designated as the event's official car. Since 2010, the Company and its subordinate brands has been strongly supporting Chinese basketball's promotion, popularization and development by sponsoring international & domestic professional basketball events, organizing amateur events and more.
