In 2023, Dongfeng Motors actively responded to the national "Belt and Road" initiative, vigorously promoting overseas business.  Dongfeng's passenger cars, commercial vehicles, VOYAH, MHERO I, and overall components were exported, achieving commendable performance.  The annual export of complete vehicles is expected to reach approximately 230,000 units, setting a new historical record.

 

With the expansion of overseas sales, Dongfeng's overseas brand visibility also increased.  Throughout the year, globally renowned media such as Agence France-Presse, Associated Press, Bloomberg, Yahoo, and critical media in Dongfeng's overseas markets such as the German "Rheinische Post," Norway's NTB, Malaysia's national news agency, Vietnam's federal news agency, Peru's "Voice of Lima," Mexico's "Bajo Diario," Chile's "La Tercera," Saudi Arabia's "Riyadh Daily," "Business Times," "Russian News Online Channel," "Moscow Media Online," Egypt's "Business Insight," "Colombian News,"  and "Argentine Economics," have published over 3,000 articles in multiple languages about Dongfeng, with a cumulative exposure exceeding 300 million times.

 

In the Middle East, South America, Europe, and other regions, some well-known bloggers and Dongfeng users have also shared Dongfeng's overseas product information and driving experiences on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.  Dongfeng's overseas news and brand and product information have received widespread exposure in various media in key domestic and overseas markets, garnering customer praise and attention.

Norway's sole national news agency, NTB, has been closely following Dongfeng since the entry of Dongfeng's high-end electric vehicle, VOYAH, into the Norwegian market.  They have now established a Dongfeng news column, covering more than ten articles on VOYAH, MHERO, Dongfeng passenger cars, and new car information.  This provides a suitable media window for local customers to deepen their understanding of Dongfeng, effectively promoting Dongfeng's overseas communication.

From January to December 2023, various core media outlets in overseas markets extensively covered Dongfeng's brand activities, new product launches, and market expansions.  The reports were rich in content, densely distributed throughout the period, and aimed at conveying brand information and shaping the brand image in international markets.

 

In January, 580 media outlets from 84 countries and regions worldwide, including Norway's National News Agency NTB, "Cusco Daily," "Voice of Lima," and "Bajo Diario," concentrated their coverage on Dongfeng participating in the "15th China-Latin America Entrepreneur Summit."  Among them, the prominent Peruvian news outlet, "Cusco Daily," published a special report in Spanish titled "‘One Belt, One Road’ Adds Brilliance, Chinese Manufacturing Faces the Future - Dongfeng Motors Shines at the China-Latin America Summit."  The article highly praised Dongfeng's development in South America, stating, "Dongfeng Motors is accelerating its market expansion, actively integrating into other South American markets, including Chile and Peru, and achieving remarkable results."

In April, Dongfeng Motors held the 2023 Overseas Dealers Conference, attended by over 100 participants, including overseas dealers and partners from more than 20 countries and regions such as Chile, Norway, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam. Media coverage spanned 26 countries and regions globally, including national news agencies from Norway, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia's Jakarta Post, and Chile's Luso News, involving 438 media outlets and utilizing ten languages for special reports.

From August 21 to 24, the 2023 Moscow International Automobile Salon (MIMS) took place at the Moscow Expocentre. Various automotive components and powertrain products under the Dongfeng brand were showcased. Over 50 mainstream Russian media outlets, including "Russian News Weekly," "Moscow TV," "Today in Moscow," and "Publisher News," extensively covered Dongfeng's participation. "Publisher News" described the scene: "The Dongfeng exhibition area at the event was bustling, attracting professionals, mainstream media, automotive industry media, and visitors from various countries. They gathered to gain in-depth insights and experience Dongfeng's advanced technologies and key products in the field of automotive components."

With precise market and customer demand recognition, Dongfeng has proactively launched the all-new generation "LOGISTICS SPECIALIST" – the Dongfeng GX high-end heavy-duty truck. The GX boasts several indicators comparable to top-tier heavy-duty trucks globally and has been exported to various overseas markets. In September, leading Southeast Asian media outlets such as "Voice of Malaysia," "Voice of Kuala Lumpur," and "Financial Capital," along with Russian media "re-port.ru," renowned Middle Eastern media "World Post" and "Saudi Business Times," and South American media "Luso News" and "Colombian News," among 375 prominent overseas media from 29 countries and regions, conducted in-depth feature reports on this new release. Specifically, a publication from Malaysia's critical press, "Voice of Kuala Lumpur," stated, "Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles consistently adheres to the brand philosophy of 'Everything Originates from Reliability,' strengthening its intelligent manufacturing capabilities and reliable product quality, dedicated to becoming the 'most reliable Chinese truck brand.'"

In September of the same period, Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle launched its striking new SUV, MAGE, receiving extensive coverage from renowned overseas media outlets such as Agence France-Presse (AFP), Associated Press (AP), Bloomberg, Yahoo, the Commonwealth of Independent States "News Life," Uzbekistan's "auto-center. uz" website, one of Southeast Asia's most influential comprehensive media websites, "Asian Spectator," South American outlets "Luso News," "Bajo Diario," and "Voice of Lima," among others.  Coverage extended to 365 media outlets from 32 countries and regions worldwide.

 

AFP published a feature article in French titled "Driving Pleasure Unleashed: Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Comes for Dreams," providing high praise for Dongfeng's transition to electrification.  The article noted, "With the arrival of Dongfeng's era of intelligence and electrification, various new energy models from Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle are set to join the Dongfeng family, offering a close encounter with global users."

Putting customers at the center and considering the dominance of road transportation in many global regions, Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles introduced a new model of dump truck, the Dongfeng KC, targeting key overseas markets for sales.  In November, core media outlets in overseas markets gathered relevant information and released it publicly.  Global media giants such as Agence France-Presse (AFP), Associated Press (AP), Yahoo, as well as Indonesia's official national news agency, Antara, Vietnam's national news agency, Malaysia's national news agency, the Commonwealth of Independent States "News Life," Iraq's portal news website "Iraq khair," and South Korea's portal news website "ACROFAN," among nearly 400 global media outlets, reported on this development.

 

Antara News Agency, in Indonesian, published an article titled "Fearless, Solid, and Reliable: DONGFENG KC Embarks on a New Global Journey," expressing high praise for the reliable and durable performance of Dongfeng KC. The article states, "Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles, with outstanding vehicle technology and considerate exclusive services, has built the 'most reliable Chinese truck brand.'  DONGFENG KC has entered the overseas market, continuously providing high-quality and reliable services to global users, creating greater value."

On November 24, the Netherlands hosted the Fully Charged Live Europe car exhibition, officially introducing the VOYAH FREE and DREAM models to the market, marking the formal entry of the VOYAH brand into the Dutch market.   This event garnered extensive attention from media across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.   Agence France-Presse (AFP), Yahoo, and 330 media outlets from regions including Germany, the Netherlands, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Middle East, and South America conducted in-depth feature reports.

 

One of Germany's most influential daily newspapers, "Rheinische Post," published a feature article in German titled "Globalization Accelerates, VOYAH Brand Officially Launches in the Netherlands," providing positive feedback on VOYAH's global strategy.   The article stated, "VOYAH Motors is committed to becoming a leader in electric mobility.   More new models will be introduced into the VOYAH family, enhancing VOYAH Motors' global presence and product lineup."

On November 28, the all-new generation of DONGFENG SHINE was officially launched in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with over a hundred automotive professionals and representatives from various industries gathered at the venue.  Saudi Arabia's most influential media outlet, "Al Riyadh Newspaper," CNBC Middle East and Africa channel, prominent Middle Eastern media outlets such as "Arab Weekly," "Gulf News," "Arab News," Africa's best-selling news magazine "Africa Business," and media from 65 countries and regions including Algeria, Egypt, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Chile, Peru, among others, published over 1300 concentrated reports in languages such as English, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, and French.

Renowned electric vehicle reviewer Wheelsboy, with 116,000 subscribers on YouTube, has shown great admiration for VOYAH, expressing in multiple videos, "I have to say, the VOYAH FREE is a very unique model in today's market. Juan Pablo Queraltó, a famous South American influencer with 564,000 followers on Instagram, has shown keen interest in Dongfeng passenger cars. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the "Belt and Road" cooperation initiative.  In the overseas market, many customers choose Dongfeng and form partnerships with it.  In September, an overseas customer of Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle, filled with deep emotions towards Dongfeng, created the first overseas MV for the DONGFENG GX high-end tractor.  The MV, featuring the GX and symbolizing the double-flying swallows of Dongfeng, tells the story of the mutual longing between a father and a child on a journey.  After the MV was released on Dongfeng's official YouTube account overseas, it received praise from customers worldwide.  Bulgarian netizen Samoely Boana commented, "Perhaps the best trucks in the world come from China, and Dongfeng will achieve this with excellent products and services!"

Today, overseas social media has become a crucial channel for global consumers to learn about Chinese brands.   Seizing this new opportunity, Dongfeng Motors is actively engaging in online marketing and communication in overseas markets.   It has established and continuously operates official social media accounts on platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.   Dongfeng Motors comprehensively showcases its brand and products to global audiences using various formats such as text, images, videos, and live streaming.   The content focuses on live coverage of international exhibitions, new product launches, holiday greetings, event updates, customer stories, driving online communication, emphasizing technical features, and enhancing brand visibility.

 

Throughout this year, Dongfeng Motors has posted approximately 1200 articles on various overseas social media platforms, accumulating over 3.6 million impressions globally.   There have been over 160,000 interactions with fans, and Dongfeng's overseas social media accounts boast a combined following of more than 224,000 fans.   Numerous customers actively engage by leaving comments, expressing interest, and sharing their expectations for Dongfeng's brand and vehicle models on these social media accounts.

In 2023, Dongfeng's overseas promotion focused on the themes outlined by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC). Dongfeng's overseas communication cases were featured 12 times throughout the year in the SASAC's "Central Enterprise Overseas Publicity Work Situation" weekly report. Dongfeng's overseas marketing campaigns won the IAI Admiration International Advertising Award for two consecutive years, from 2022 to 2023. During the same period, Dongfeng's overseas communication, as indicated by Google Trends, experienced a growth of approximately 50% year-on-year.

 

Looking ahead to 2024, the Chinese automotive industry faces more significant opportunities and challenges in the global market.
