DFM Holds Overseas Distributors Conference 2022

Going all the way into a bright future.

On January 18, 2022, DFM held its Overseas Distributors Conference 2022 online and offline under the theme of "Drive Your Dreams". DFM's leaders, including Zhang Zutong, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of DFM, gathered online with "Belt and Road" cooperative central enterprises, as well as DFM's over 150 overseas distributors in more than 60 countries and regions like Chile, Tunisia, Russia, Vietnam and Egypt, partners and media, to seek common development and look into the future.

With a focus on maintaining the sales growth of DFM, the conference reviewed DFM's overseas business development in 2021, arranged its overseas marketing work in 2022, released its mid-term overseas business plan for the coming five years, and demonstrated its overall strength and image. Via the conference, DFM made in-depth communication with its overseas distributors to promote the sustained and sound development of brand marketing in overseas markets. Meanwhile, the conference showcased DFM's new products such as Voyah, Aeolus Yixuan MAX and AX7 Mach, live-streamed its fine products globally, and introduced its 12 representative products to overseas distributors, partners and media.

As one of China's three key automotive agglomerates, DFM sold 3.27 million vehicles worldwide in 2021, including 183,000 new energy vehicles, up 227% year on year. It came out top in China's auto industry with total exports of 154,000 units in 2021, up 124% year on year, including 42,000 electric vehicles, up 790% year on year. It exported a full spectrum of models to more than 100 countries and regions in 2021, including sedans, SUVs, MPVs, pickups, HCVs, MCVs, LCVs and mini trucks. A good start in 2021 laid a solid foundation for DFM to fulfill its "fourteenth five-year" plan for oversea development.

Facing the complex and volatile global environment, DFM set a new future-oriented goal of transforming into an "outstanding sci-tech enterprise", released the "Wind from the East" strategic plan as the overall guideline for its innovative and transformational development in the "fourteenth five-year" period, and proposed to adjust and optimize its three business groups: vehicles, science & technology and services with a focus on implementing the strategic plan. In the science & technology sector, DFM launched the "Leap Action" for sci-tech innovation.

Dongfeng has upheld the core values of "Quality, Wisdom, Harmony" and enriched their connotation as required by the new era. "Quality", the root of Dongfeng; "Wisdom" the source of Dongfeng; and "Harmony", the soul of Dongfeng will integrate to help Dongfeng develop into an outstanding and world top brand.

In 2021, the world evolved fast with significant changes unseen in a century, the global economic recovery was affected by COVID-19, overseas operations underwent unprecedented challenges due to factors such as global inflation, exchange fluctuations, chip crisis and shipping strain. Facing all these difficulties and challenges, DFM's overseas staff worked with its overseas distributors and partners to fight hard and achieve brilliant results. The year of 2021 is a crucial year for the customer-centered marketing transformation and upgrading of DFM in its international operations. DFM released its overseas mid-term business plan at its Overseas Distributors Conference 2021. With a clearer goal and path of development and a more specific direction of overseas brand building set by the plan, DFM will enhance its overseas product lineup, constantly expand its overseas distributor network and achieve a new breakthrough in vehicle export.

DFM has accumulated a variety of leading technologies and products over the past five decades, developing the capabilities of making original innovations, developing leading core technologies, guiding industrial development and persistently upgrading industry chains. It has pressed ahead with research on basic and advanced technologies, improved innovation capacity and strengthened technology research and achievement application with a focus on the trends of “light weight, electrification, intelligence, networking and sharing" in the automotive industry.

In the commercial vehicle field, DFM has consolidated its domestic lead in commercial vehicles, deepened business transformation, pushed forward international operations while meeting domestic market demand, and built a European logistics demonstration line to access the EU market. In the independent passenger vehicle field, DFM has focused on building Voyah, Aeolus and a premium electric cross-country brand, advanced the differential development of brands like Furter  and Glory to meet diverse needs of segments. In the new energy field, DFM has built two new energy industry parks and mastered core technologies and resources such as auto chips, and will focus on developing industrially leading platform architecture and core technologies to accelerate the commercialization of hydrogen fuel cells and other technologies. In the fuel and hybrid field, DFM has built two power brands: Mach Power and Loong-Gine Power. Mach Power, represented by high-efficiency engines, transmissions and hybrid drive assemblies, is specific to passenger vehicle brands: Aeolus and Voyah. Loong-Gine Power, specific to commercial vehicles, features architecture for all series of engines and transmissions. Dongfeng medium & heavy-duty commercial vehicles coming with Loong-Gine Power are powerful, fuel-efficient and highly adapted to various conditions. DFM's "Leap Action" focused on innovations in new energy and self-driving technologies is the top priority of DFM's strategy. Besides, DFM has achieved remarkable technical breakthroughs in fields such as core assemblies of batteries, motors and electric control, modular vehicle architecture, electronic and electric architecture, energy supplement and battery swapping, independent hydrogen fuel cells and storage, L4 automated driving and smart logistics.

DFM is launching these technologies and products on global markets step by step. In the future, it will put sci-tech innovation in a more important strategic position, so as to build an all-new Dongfeng by technology and become an outstanding sci-tech enterprise delivering outstanding automotive products and services.

Guided by its vision, DFM has formulated and released its mid-term overseas business plan (2022-2026), proposing to increase its overall sales to 5 million units by 2026, including overseas sales of over 300,000 vehicles.  d on the plan, DFM has worked out special plans for overseas brands, products and markets.

With regard to brands, DFM will take "the international brand" as a major strategic pillar for international development. Guided by the goal of building an "internationalized Dongfeng" and the mission of enhancing its brand value in overseas marketing, DFM will implement its overseas brand strategy, develop a new system for overseas brand building and communication matching its plans and goals, and promote the overseas promotion and communication of Aeolus, Voyah, Dongfeng premium commercial vehicles and core brands.

With regard to product planning, DFM will gradually step up new energy vehicle development and production to lay a solid foundation for its full globalization. With the demand of key markets as the core, DFM will advance localized R&D with emphasis on the uniqueness and market adaptability of products. Meanwhile, DFM will accelerate efforts to create globally competitive product technology platforms to develop star models for overseas markets, and launch new models synchronously in overseas markets to achieve scale effects.

DFM has worked out country-specific differential marketing measures  d on the requirements of the mid-term overseas business plan for classified market operations. Under the "Belt and Road" initiative, DFM will precisely focus on regional markets and achieve breakthroughs in regional marketing. DFM will strive to develop 3-5 strategic markets with sales of over 10,000 units each and create several regional market clusters with sales of over 1,000 units each by 2026.

The international development of DFM has been inseparable from the efforts and close cooperation of its overseas distributors and partners. Via DFM's Overseas Distributors Conference 2022, 6 distributors from countries like Chile, Tunisia and Vietnam shared the "voice of customers" online with DFM. These distributors have maintained good cooperative relations and deep friendship with DFM for many years. Through the screen, we could feel their deep feelings and ardent expectations for DFM.

The representative from the Chilean distributor CIDEF introduced the campaign of Dongfeng brand building and exhibitions in Chile during the COVID-19 outbreak. Local marketing, combined with DFM's overseas social media communication and brand sponsorship, has helped Dongfeng further enhance its brand popularity and fulfill its terminal sales target.

The representative from the Vietnamese distributor Huanghui Investment Service Co., Ltd. reviewed the company's success in new product introduction, new market development and key account marketing in 2021. He felt DFM's outstanding and sustained product power has always been an important support to distributors.

"It has been 11 years since we introduced the first Dongfeng pickup to Bolivia," said Jose Nicholas Landivar, CEO of the Bolivian distributor Rodalya feeling proud to cooperate with DFM. "The launch of electric pickups is another proof of DFM's development, and the innovation makes us fonder of this brand."
